9 Short 24 & 25 Inch Depth Toilets (Shortest Depth Toilets 2022) – Toilet Bazar

Sometimes you might need a short depth toilet like an 24 inch depth toilet or 25 inch depth toilet. What this means is you have an extremely small space for a toilet. Naturally, you will like to have the smallest toilet or compact toilet to save space and make more legroom.

Unfortunately, popular toilet brands and stores don’t offer under 25 inch toilets anymore. But I found a few 25, 24 inch toilets and even a couple of 23 inch toilets on Amazon from some new brands. These are currently the shortest depth toilets for sale in the U.S. Let’s have a look at these shallow depth toilets. They might be just what you need…

Currently, the standard toilet depth is between 28 and 30 inches. So any toilet that is shorter than 28 inches in length is considered as a compact toilet. The models sold as compact toilets for small bathrooms by popular brands like Toto, Kohler and American Standard are at least 26 to 28 inches in depth. So it’s fortunate to find at-least these toilets in the 23, 24 & 25 inch depth range.

Best 24 Inch Toilet

Most people prefer 24 inch Swiss Madison Sublime toilet (sold on Amazon here #ad) as the best 24″ toilet, because it’s the only toilet for sale in the U.S. with a strict 24 inch toilet depth. It’s got a reasonable price for a one-piece toilet design and looks nice too.

Even though exact 24 inch deep toilets are limited, the new 23.6 inches long DeerValley toilet (Amazon page link #ad) is also a good and recommendable alternative.

Best 25 Inch Toilet

Currently the most affordable of these 9 models is the 25 inch Horow Small Toilet (link to its Amazon page #ad). It looks very similar to Galba toilet and I suspect it’s the same toilet marketed under a different name by a different company. Online reviews for it so far are good. So if you want to buy the Galba but don’t want to spend as much I’d recommend going for a Horow toilet.

Shortest Depth Toilet

The shortest depth toilet in this collection is the Winzo 22.8 inch depth toilet (Amazon page link #Ad), followed by the 23-inch Carus toilet (Amazon link #Ad). Though not 24 or 25 inch toilets, I included these 22 and 23 inch toilets here because they are the shortest toilets for sale currently in the U.S.

The 22.8″ WinZo shallow toilet is a newly released toilet (available in the U.S. since May 2020). So has little feedback and customer reviews online to judge it. However, its online reviews so far are good. WinZo also has many other toilet models listed for sale and online reviews for them is also so far good. It certainly looks nice, provides a lot of details and of good quality. And as the smallest small toilet, you can buy, it will take the least amount of floor space in your bathroom.

shortest depth toiletThe more expensive, 23 inch Carus toilet model has been around for few years now. And it’s sold by the same company that sells the Galba toilet and cost the same. As the selling company is good, and their other Galba toilet model is good, the 23″ Carus toilet is a great toilet for saving space.

The next smallest toilet in this list is the 24-inch Swiss Madison Sublime II 1-Piece Compact Small Toilet. However the 24.37″ long WoodBridge toilet (Amazon link #ad) is a better choice for 24″ toilet seekers provided you have a bit more space space than a two feet space for your toilet. 24″ WoodBridge model has been in the market longer and it is sold by a reputed bath & kitchen product supplier located in Cerritos, CA. There are several other WoodBridge toilet models that are top sellers in other toilet categories like top low profile toilet and top one piece toilets.

Before these 23, 24 inch toilets appeared in the market, the most sold short toilet was the 24.5 inches long Galba Small Toilet (check at Amazon #Ad). It has been in the market for over five years now, longer than any other models listed here. It’s well built, flushes well, the seller company customer service is good and online reviews recommend it highly. So can be bought without fear. However its a bit expensive compared to some other models. (I’ve discussed more about Galba toilet below)

If you are okay with a toilet little over 25 inches, then there is a beautiful and popular high-end toilet from KOHLER called the KOHLER San Souci round toilet (Amzon link #ad). It is 25.6 inches long. The speciality of this toilet is it is a short height toilet or technically called low profile toilet. The overall height of San Souci toilet with the tank is just 24.5 inches. That’s about 3-4 inches shorter than other shallow depth toilet discussed here.

Lastly, if you want a 24 or 25 inch toilet for a 10 inch rough-in, the shortest I found was the 25.8 inch American Standard Colony 221DB.004.020 toilet (Amazon page link #ad). It’s also available in 12 inch rough-in. Different water consumption level models are also available in both 10 & 12 inch rough-in versions. You can get it in 1.6 GPF normal water usage version or the 1.28 GPF High Efficiency toilet version. What has made this toilet very popular is its lower price tag and coming from a well known brand like American Standard.

The above are the 9 shortest depth toilets available for sale in the United State today. They (especially the Horow, Swiss Madison, and Galba toilets) are widely used for saving space and creating more legroom in small bathrooms, powder rooms, and closet toilets.

Note: The reason for the scarcity of small toilets like 24, 25 inch from top brands like Toto, Kohler are new toilet laws. Specially, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 or ADA legislation and other minimum toilet space requirements in building codes that were introduced in the last few decades. These resulted in an increase in toilet size to comfortable elongated bowls and increases in overall size. That’s the reason average normal toilet depth is around 28-30 inches today.

3 Top 24 inches to 25 Inches Shortest Depth Toilets

In this section I take a more detailed look at Galba, Sublime II and Horow toilets which are the most sold shortest toilets in the market. I’ll start with the oldest small depth toilet in our list first.

24.5 inch Galba Small Toilet

24 inch toiletThe GALBA SMALL TOILET (Amazon page link #ad) is the oldest toilet model in this list as its been in the market since 2013. So for a long time, it was the only choice for people looking for a toilet within the 24/25 inch depth range. (Until around 2018 when Swiss Madison started selling.)

Even though smaller depth toilets are available now, Galba toilet is still only 24.5 inches long. That’s good 4 or 5 inches shorter than a regular toilet model. Overall, Galba measures 24.5″ long, 13.5″ wide and 28.5″ high. With a width of just 13.5 inches, it’s also a very narrow toilet ideal for cramped and narrow bathrooms. (Average standard toilet width is between 18 to 20 inches)

Galba is a floor mount toilet with an elongated bowl. The elongated bowl makes it more comfortable to use. When it was released in the market a few years back it was groundbreaking. Many were surprised to see an elongated bowl in a toilet with the smallest toilet depth at the time.

Like most models mentioned here, Galba is also a one-piece compact dual flush toilet. So you get two flush rates which are great for saving water. The half flush rate of 0.8 GPF is for flushing liquid waste. And the standard 1.6 GPF flush gives a full flush for clearing solid waste from the toilet bowl.

Like most short depth toilets models here, this Galba toilet is also made in China. Still, you can see it’s a great toilet when you check the reliability and reputation of Galba small toilet with sales and reviews on online stores like Amazon. Galba is marketed in the U.S. by ‘Luxury Modern Home’, a company based in East Hanover, NJ.

24-inch Swiss Madison Sublime One-Piece Compact Toilet

The most popular shortest toilet in the U.S. today is the Swiss Madison Well Made Forever SM-1T257 Sublime One Piece Toilet (link to its Amazon page #Ad). It’s a short projection toilet measuring exactly 24 inches long, 14 inches wide and 28 inches tall. That’s about 1/2-inch and one-inch shorter than Galba and Horow toilets but one inch longer than the newer 23 inch toilets.

Size-wise and feature-wise it’s similar to most other models I mention here. It’s one is shorter than Galba and Horow toilets but one inch longer than 23″ Carus toilet. But price-wise its cheaper than the other three and will be my first choice. But still, like I said earlier, the online reviews I found for this model give mixed signals.
Anyway, it was launched on online stores only around mid-2018 and was the only 24″ toilet choice available for people until other 23″-24″ models like WinZo, WoodBridge and DeerValley toilets came along in 2020.

Swiss Madison have a few other beautiful, 26+ inches long one-piece toilet models that have been on sale for much longer than this Sublime II toilet. Those other models are cheaper and feature rich than their similar sized counterparts from Toto, American Standard etc, but they have also have got only mixed reviews.

25 inch HOROW Small Toilet

25 inch toiletThe third smallest toilet is the 25 inches long HOROW Small Toilet. (See Horow toilet at Amazon here #ad) The HOROW Small toilet is 25″ Long, 13.4″ Wide and 28.3″ High. The sellers describe it as a “One Piece Short Compact Bathroom Tiny Mini Commode Water Closet Dual Flush Concealed Trapway.”

Horow toilet brand is also a new entry into the market. It’s a Chinese toilet brand and first launch around 2018. Since then they have sold couple of versions of this 25″ Horow toilet model online to the American public. Many people have bought it online. I saw many had left glowing customer reviews, some even with photos of the Horow toilet they installed, saying they love it and it’s awesome.

In appearance, HOROW looks very much like the Galba toilet. In fact, both look so alike, I asked a question on one of its older version Amazon pages, asking whether it was the same Galba toilet sold under a different name. The seller “HOROW” responded saying, that the toilet is very similar to the Galba small toilet, but not completely same. They claimed there are little differences in the size and look. Price-wise, HOROW toilet is much cheaper than Galba. Its quality and flushing seem good if you go by online reviews.

So, these three are the top toilet models you find today that are in the range of 24 inches to 25 inches. Many people looking for even 23 inch toilets have bought these toilets because there is no shorter toilet (though now we have the new 23″ Carus toilet) or going for an expensive wall mount toilet remodel or an electric Upflush Macerating toilet.

There are no toilets that measure exactly 24 or 25 inches in depth. These models are a bit shorter or longer than 25 inches yet ideal for a 24 or 25 inch toilet requirement.

Small 25 to 26 Inch Depth Toilets

However, if you are okay with a toilet with a depth between 25 to 27 inches, you have a few more toilet models to choose from including toilets from the well known top brands like Kohler and Toto.

KOHLER one of the top 3 toilet brands also has a model in the 25 inch length toilet range. Its the 25.625 inches long KOHLER San Souci K-4007-0 (Amazon page link #ad). This is a round-front toilet with a 1.28 GPF flush rate. Its overall dimensions are 25.625 inches in length, 14.5 inches in width and 24.25 inches tall. I mentioned above the speciality of this toilet being a low height toilet.

Unlike other small toilet models mentioned here the 25.6 inch Kohler San Sauci is specialty designed as a compact high-end toilet. Because of this design and elegance, this toilet fits well in medium to large bathrooms. Most other small toilets models are designed for small bathrooms and small spaces. So others here when installed on a large bathroom will not match and look out of place.

The Duravit Stark line of toilets come in many variations and one of them is the close-coupled Duravit 0128090000 Starck 3 Toilet(Amazon link #ad). It measures 25.8 inches in depth and can be another option for you. However I couldn’t find any customer feedback for this model.

Compact 26 to 28 Inch Toilets

Normally when people look for toilets they want to buy one from one of the top 3 Toilet brands of Toto, Kohler or American Standard. Unfortunately except for the Kohler model mentioned above, there are no other toilets shorter than 26 inches from these top 3 brands. But if your toilet can accommodate a bit bigger toilet, there are several good 26 inch toilets to choose from.

The smallest Toto toilet is the TOTO Drake 1.6 GPF Round Bowl 2 Piece Toilet (Amazon link #ad) with E-Max Flush System with Model No. CST743SR#01. This Toto Drake model measures 26.375 inches lengthwise, 19.5 inches wide and 28.5 tall overall. Its known as great flushing toilet and has received very good toilet ratings.

The shortest American Standard toilet is a bit than the short Toto Drake. Its the 26.75 inches long American Standard 2887218.020 H2Option Siphonic toilet (check at Amazon #ad). It’s a dual flush toilet with a normal height seat and elongated toilet bowl design.

However even these 26″ plus toilet models from the top 3 toilet brands can become longer when installed. That’s because when you install them on a standard 12 inch toilet rough-in, they become 27.5 inches or more with the tank clearance distance they leave from the wall.

In addition to these there is also a 26.5 inch Swiss Madison Ivy one-piece toilet (check at Amazon #ad). Its a dual flush model with 0.8/1.28 GPF flush rate and measures 26.5″ depth, 14″ width and 29″ height.

So we have reached the end of all the small toilet size ranges. If even these tiniest toilets are too large for your bathroom, then your next option is to go for a different type of toilet like, wall mounted toilets, corner toilets, tankless toilets, portable toilet, and macerating upflush toilets. Installing a different type of toilet can save space and create more legroom but will involve costly renovations.

Final Thoughts on 24 & 25 Inch depth Toilets

From what we saw and discussed here, below are my thoughts regarding different user needs.

If you are looking for a 24″ toilet and have the space, I think the best is the 24.4″ depth WoodBridge compact toilet. If you don’t have more than 24 inches space, then the 23.6 inch DeerValley toilet is best. The most sold and most popular 24 inch depth Swiss Madison toilet is not bad either, it’s just some reviewers seem to love it, others not so much mainly because of its installation difficulties.

I feel the 23″ Carus toilet is the best toilet if you are looking for the smallest toilet to save the most space. It’s a bit expensive but in the long term it’s worth it because of the model’s and seller’s reputation. The new 22.8″ WinZo WZ5079N Toilet is cheaper and so far reviews are good. So that’s also a option.

I think 24.5″ Galba is the best if you want a 25 inch toilet. However like Carus it’s expensive. If you are on a budget, the 25″ Horow is an equally good and reliable toilet. It just doesn’t have the company backing as Galba, Carus or WoodBridge do.

Update: Since writing this article, I made a list article of the 15 smallest toilets. You can check it out at 15+ Smallest Small Toilets with Shortest Toilet Depth.
